We have entered a world where brands are more than just products, they are movements. They are sources of inspiration, drivers of change, and beacons of hope.

I spent over 20 years building some of the most well known fashion brands in the UK. One thing they all had in common was, they did not call themselves a business, they called themselves a brand.

Imagine being a part of a brand that stands for something meaningful, a brand that is not just about profits but about making a difference.

Brands like Patagonia and TOMS have shown us that when we align our purpose with our business we can create a movement that transcends commerce and leaves a lasting impact on the world.

At the heart of these brands is purpose. Apple doesn't just sell devices; they've created a movement around innovation and creativity. Nike isn't just about shoes; they've built a movement empowering personal achievement.

Building a purpose-driven movement means:
- Defining your 'why' beyond profit
- Defining your ‘who’ and emotionally connect with the customer
- Fostering a community around a shared values and purpose
- Inspiring action towards a common goal
- Creating narratives that resonate emotionally

The result? Unparalleled brand loyalty, organic growth, and a competitive edge that's hard to replicate.

In the purpose economy, building a movement isn't just good marketing – it's essential for long-term success and meaningful impact. It's about answering the crucial question: How does your brand make the world better?

So, what movement will your brand lead? What purpose will you champion? In today's world, your answer could define your success.

The power of community 🙌

When I embarked on my fourth business venture, my mission was clear: to Shift The World into a New Era by building brands that transform industries and create global positive change. My vision was to connect developed and developing countries so that everyone, regardless of location or demographic, could be seen and heard.

After 22 years in the consumer world, focusing on commercial ROI, I built thousands of brands. This taught me the ins and outs of brand building and commercial success. However, I felt a need to create a business model that thrived commercially and made a significant social impact.

With this new purpose in mind for my fourth business,I promised to leverage my experience to help any industry sector, of any size, scale up commercially and increase their value, provided they led with impact and purpose.

This led to the creation of an ROI²:
ROI - Commercial: Achieving more sales, greater awareness, and a larger company valuation.
ROI - Cultural: Driving a legacy, fulfilling a meaningful purpose, and influencing the market with empowered and motivated people.

Now, 14 years later, as I reflect on the thousands of businesses that have been through our schools globally, I realise that the most significant ROI helped to create One Earth with One Billion Purposes, the power of the community.

When businesses align around a common language and purpose-driven business model, something remarkable happens - the formation of deep emotional connections.

The love, camaraderie, and friendship within a purpose-driven community are unparalleled. Bringing together old and new members makes me realise the absolute privilege of my 13-year journey. Community is the most important thing, not only through the good times but also through the rocky roads of life.

We've resumed our monthly community drop-ins, and seeing familiar faces and hearing their growth stories has been inspiring. It has also been wonderful welcoming new faces as they start their purpose-ready journey.

Join the next drop-in on August 20th to build a brand, grow your business, and impact an industry to shift the world.

When you can’t control the uncontrollable.

Just hours after this photo was taken, our plans took an unforeseen turn. Our scheduled talks and meetings were cancelled, and even our journey to Abu Dhabi turned into an unexpected adventure, with flooded roads turning our car into a makeshift submarine.

In life, we often strive to control every aspect - where we go, how we get there, and what pace we maintain.
We stick to schedules and predetermined paths.

What if we let the natural flow of life take us? What if we surrendered to the energy around us, trusting it to lead us where we need to be, even if it's not where we planned?

Unexpected events like these remind us that we can't predict what life will throw at us. So, how can we respond?

- Learn to let go of expectations.
- Nurture a flexible mindset, allowing us to pivot as needed.
- Embrace change and acknowledge that plans may deviate from our expectations.
- Recognise that change is inevitable, and we have the capacity to adapt.
- Acknowledge that we often lack the full picture, and what may seem like a disaster could turn into a blessing.
- Refrain from judgment and assumptions, recognising that everyone's experiences and needs are unique.

What changes, expectations or hopes are you living with that could benefit from an uncontrollable change?
